Living in Information
Architecture for Life Inside Small Glass Rectangles
To be published 2018
Sometime during the last twenty years, we started living in new places made of light and words and images. You visit these places every time you pick up your smartphone and open an app or a website. These information environments are the stage where much of our lives happen. We do our banking there. We shop there. We learn there. We gossip there. We find our mates there.
Alas, the people who created these things didn’t design them as places. Instead, they’ve imagined them as products or publications or services. The resulting information environments don’t support our needs in the long term. Living in Information clarifies the key role information environments play in our lives so you can become a better steward of these places.
